Prep Hike I: Multnomah Falls

I thought I was in shape….

Well not in shape exactly, but not so out of shape…

Then I got to the first little bridge, and things started unraveling…

It wasn’t long before I realized how crazy I was!

Multnomah Falls is no joke. It’s 1.25 miles up a mountain I wasn’t ready for.

It was beautiful, don’t get me wrong, but I wasn’t ready… Not AT ALL ready…

Halfway up I wanted to quit, but I didn’t. I saw old men and kids in flip flops practically running, and I couldn’t allow myself to be outdone by tiny tikes and old people!

The scenery was spectacular!

I wanted to jump into the water it was so inviting…

Then I reached the top and I felt like a million bucks, and I realized why I’m doing this project. It’s my time to challenge myself and to hike the 60 best hikes within 60 miles of Portland!

The cars were like ants… And it became crystal clear. I’m going to have to push myself to do this, and it’s going to make me a better person… 60 hikes are going to give me 60 chances to show myself that I can be a better person, in all respects!

It wasn’t easy, but it was nothing compared to what I’ll face as I undertake this mission. 60 chances to prove to myself that I can do it, that I can make it to the top and see things only a few will ever see.

God help me!
